Asst Instructor - Open Water Scuba Instructor (OWSI)

There is a career path for a potential Asst Instructor and Open Water Scuba Instructor Course(OWSI). Training in these courses and qualifications will depend upon your current level  of training and expertise. As a PADI 5* IDC Centre on Gozo, Utina Diving College is one of the Islands leading and active training centres and runs these specialist courses and in addition some of the PADI TecRec courses, at various times of the year according to demand.

We are very proud that we have achieved a 100% pass record for IDC/IE and have been instrumental in qualifying 14 new Open Water Instructors during the last three years.

The cost of these specialist courses will depend on many factors as they are bespoke to the needs of our up and coming prospective dive professionals. If you want to know more then email us or contact us through the website at utina@gozomail. The duration of the courses will vary but we will always, where possible, try to accommodate you within your time scales. For potential Instructors with all of the pre-requisite skills of Divemaster will need approximately 10-12 days for a complete and thorough IDC to prepare you to pass the IDC & IE. A potential Divemaster will require between 2 and 3 weeks for intense training or as a better alternative, a longer term 'Internship' will equip you fully for the future with both DM skills and the practical skills necessary to advance further. For Divemaster entry requirements please look at the Divemaster Course details.

The Assistant Instructor course can be completed in about 4 to 5 days but ideally we would like a little longer to really hone your skills to the highest level and is at a cost of €475.00 for the course. You will need specialist manuals so contact us for prices. We can arrange for them to be sent to you in advance at a small additional cost. To advance to an OWSI (Open Water Scuba Instructor) will take another four days plus another 2/3days for the IE (Instructor Examination) which maybe on Gozo or Malta(Valletta). There are additional costs relating to this higher level of training so please contact us. The PADI Instructor Examination(IE) dates for 2020 in GOZO are the 10th & 11th May, 4th & 5th Sep. There are also IE's in Malta on the 8th and 9th May and also the 13th & 14th Nov. The IDC dates start approximately 10/12 days before the IE but this will depend upon the candidates training level. Divemaster will require the full 10days but existing Assistant Instructor maybe a little less.
