The Blue Hole is not a true blue hole in the geological sense but still makes an amazing spot to dive, having won awards as one of the most beautiful diving spots in Europe.

Situated on the south east coast of the island, Xatt L'Ahmar Bay is reached below the village of Ghanjnsielem down twisting farm roads that drop steeply down to the coastal area. It is a natural bay sheltered by the curving headland of Mellieha Point.

The MV Xlend, an ex Malta-Gozo ferry, was sunk off the coast of Xatt L-Ahmar on November 12 th 1999. Being a roll-on roll-off ferry with props and rudders at both ends it makes a fascinating wreck for the experienced diver. The wreck is found at 40m, is some 80m long and is accessible from the shore.

Xlendi is an ideal diving site even for beginners. It has a spectacular Tunnel passing through the headland to the open sea and then on to the edge of Xlendi Reef. Xlendi is also a typical Gozitan fishing village and harbours a number of fishing vessels. It is also equipped with several tourist-related amenities, such as bars, restaurants and hotels.

Mgarr ix-Xini is reputed to be one of the harbours used by the Knights' galleys, and lies in a gorge accessible from Xewkija and Sannat. The entrance to this natural cove is guarded by a tower which was constructed by the Universita (local government) in 1661. It has a small pebbly beach with intriguing caves on cliff faces. It is where divers often seek Seahorses, Cuttle Fish and small Stingrays and can make a spectacular night dive. One can dive to the purposely wrecked ferry "Xlendi" even from this bay.

The Inland Sea is a small sea lake connected to the open Mediterranian Sea by a narrow tunnel through the cliffs. The tunnel is wide enough to allow the passage of small boats. It is thought that the Inland Sea started life as a tunnel leading to a ginormous sea cave. The Inland Sea is ideal for Technical Diver training owing to its varied and natural ledged depths.

The wreck of the tugboat " Rozi " lies to the northwest side of Malta's ' Marfa Point ' - Cirkewwa. The Rozi was a 40 metre long harbour tug and was sunk in 1991. Apart from the engines and propeller, which were removed, the Rozi is completely intact and sits upright on the sandy seabed.

The warm and crystal clear blue waters around the island of Gozo offer perfect diving conditions. Divers from all over the world enjoy exploring the tunnels, caves, grottos, reefs and spectacular scenery abundant with marine life as well as the recently enviromentally friendly sunken vessels the Karwella and Cominoland off the coast of Xatt L’Ahmar in 2006. These are comfortably dived from the shore. The ever popular and superb tugboat the Rozi, the Um El Faroud and the famous ship used in the making of the film Popeye in 1979 popularly known as the Popeye Barge just off Anchor Bay. A further wreck was sunk in 2007 - P29 or better known by divers as the Boltenhagen and is adjacent to the Rozi at Cirkewwa. The sister ship known as the P31 or Pasewalk was sunk in 2007 just by Comino, in late 2007. Arrangements are under way for yet another wreck to be sunk off the north coast of Gozo, hopefully in 2012. Other dive sites include Alexander’s Cave, Santa Maria Caves and Lantern Point on Comino, the Cathedral Cave at Ghasri, Ras il Hobz, T'Cenc, Mgarr ix Xini, Double Arch and the Coral Cave at Dwerja only add to the Gozo diving experience. In fact there is something for every diver.
