Mgarr ix-Xini is reputed to be one of the harbours used by the Knights' galleys, and lies in a gorge accessible from Xewkija and Sannat. The entrance to this natural cove is guarded by a tower which was constructed by the Universita (local government) in 1661. It has a small pebbly beach with intriguing caves on cliff faces. One can dive to the purposely wrecked ferry "Xlendi" even from this bay.

The Inland Sea is a small sea lake connected to the open Mediterranian Sea by a narrow tunnel through the cliffs. The tunnel is wide enough to allow the passage of small boats. It is thought that the Inland Sea started life as a tunnel leading to a ginomous sea cave.
